Columbus Day Literacy and Math

Columbus Day is just around the corner.  I have created a super cute product to use with my firsties that covers a bunch of skills.  Here is a peek at this product!

You can have your students read to get information about Columbus using either the adorable flip book or little book.  The flip book looks great put together, but if you want to use less paper the little book can be run off front to back and covers the exact same information.

After reading the students can write facts for each of the key events and sequence them.  I have also included a quiz.  I am always in need of a Social Studies grade!  This also shows the cute color by sum printable.

Graphing!  I love graphing!  I have created a spin and tally activity to create data for the students to graph and interpret.  My kids love to use a spinner so I know they will love this!

Finally, we have been working on common and proper nouns.  The study of Columbus seemed like a great time to throw in an activity to review this.  The pack includes a center where students sort the ships into two categories: common and proper nouns.  There is a recording sheet for this center.  If you want a quick activity, there is also a cut and paste with common and proper nouns.

I hope these activities will be useful in your classroom.  If you are interested, you can grab them in my TpT store.  Just click here!
