1st Grade August & September NO PREP Pack Covers:

Math:

  • Writing numerals to 20: Students trace and write numbers 1-5, 6-10, 11-15, and 16-20. Then they color the matching number of objects to represent the numbers.
  • Count and Graph: On one page students count school supplies and on the other, they count school critters. Students graph the matching number and then answer 4 questions about the data.
  • Count and Tally: On one page students count school supplies and on the other, they count school symbols. Students complete a tally table to match the data and then answer 4 questions about the data.
  • Count and Match to 10: Students count sets of tally marks and cut and glue to match the correct number.
  • Tracing Tally Marks: Students practice making tally marks by tracing tally marks. One page is numbers 1-10 and the other is 11-20.
  • Count and Match: Students count dots on ten frames and cut and glue the number and number word to match the ten frames.
  • Number Charts: Students fill in number charts to 60, 100, and 120. Different options are provided to tier instruction.
  • Before and After Numbers: Students write the numbers before and after a given number. Students then color the pictures using a color code. Apples for numbers to 20, pencils to 40, buses to 60, and sticky notes/pencil pouches to 100.
  • Domino Addition: Students count the dots on the dominoes and write an addition sentence to match and find the sum.
  • Addition with Dice: Students roll dice, draw dots to match, and write an addition sentence to match and find the sum.
  • 2D Shape Match: Students identify 2D shapes and cut/glue the matching shape name under the picture.
  • 3D Shape Match: Students identify 3D shapes and cut/glue the matching shape name under the picture.
  • Represent Numbers in Various Ways: Students are given a number and are asked to show at least three ways to represent the number. Blank ten frames are provided for each response, and suggestions are offered for other representations like tally marks, number word, addition/subtraction sentence, base ten blocks etc. Separate pages are provided for numbers to 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60.
  • Addition and Subtraction Fact Fluency to 5: Five pages are included with 20 problems on each pages with rows alternating between addition and subtraction facts through 5.
  • Addition and Subtraction Fact Fluency to 10: Five pages are included with 20 problems on each pages with rows alternating between addition and subtraction facts through 10.

Language Arts:

  • Color Words: Students read color words and color the picture with the correct color. One page is crayons and the other is smiley faces. Students complete a sentence frame about their favorite color.
  • Rhyming Words: 1. Students say the name of a picture and cut/glue a matching rhyming picture. 2. Students say the name of a picture, write the word to name the picture, and write a word which rhymes.
  • Short Vowel CVC Picture Sorts: Students say the names of CVC pictures listening for the vowel sound and then cut and glue into the correct group. One page is provided for each vowel sound. (i.e.: Short “a” / Not Short “a”)
  • Say and Spell CVC Words: Students say the names of CVC pictures, color the letters to spell the word, and then write the word.
  • Stretch and Spell CVC Words: Students say the names of CVC pictures segmenting it into three sounds. Then students write each segmented sound to spell the word. One page is provided for each short vowel sound and two mixed practice pages are included.
  • Listen for Blends: Students listen for beginning blend sounds and color in the corresponding blend. Pages for “L”, “S”, and “R” blends are included as well as a mixed practice page.
  • Sentence Sorts: Students cut and glue groups of words into one of two groups- Sentence or Not a Sentence. Two pages are included.
  • Noun Town: Students name pictures of nouns and sort them into noun groups: people, places, animals, or things.
  • Spin a Noun: Students spin and read the noun on which they land. They write the noun, circle if it is a person, place, animal, or thing and then write a sentence using the noun. There are five nouns per page and two pages are included.
  • Sentence Fix 1 and 2: Students “fix” sentences by correctly writing them adding capitalization and punctuation.  Pages are included in both primary and D’Nealian writing.
  • Short Vowel CVC Word Sorts: Students read CVC words listening for the vowel sounds and then cut and glue into the correct group. One sort is provided for each: short a/e, short o/u, short i/e, and one with all 5 vowel sounds.
  • Sight Word Color by Code: Students practice reading sight words (from the Fry List), and color a mystery picture by code. Pictures of a school bus, pencils, scissors/glue, and books are included each with different sight words.

  • My Teacher: Students write a sentence or two to tell about their teacher. One male and one female teacher page are included.

Writing Pages:

  • My Favorites Writing: Students use their graphic organizer to help them write about their favorite things. Paper is provided with an area to illustrate and to write.
