7 Time-Saving Resources for February

Who’s ready to start planning February lessons?! February is a short month, with a lot going on! We’ve got Groundhog Day, Black History Month, Presidents’ Day, Dental Health Month, and Valentine’s Day all in the shortest month of the year. There are plenty of ways to engage students while working on fun learning activities in February. If you’re looking to maximize your prep time while planning meaningful activities, you’re in the right place! Come along as I share some of my favorite, time-saving resources for February!

With so many fun things going on in February, you can use these engaging time-saving resources to make sure your students enjoy them all.

1. February Morning Work

First up, let’s talk about morning work. Do you have a morning routine that you use in your classroom? Deciding on some daily tasks that your students will complete first thing, every day is a great way to calm that morning chaos. In my classroom, I was always a fan of using morning work pages that spiral through common ELA and math standards. Depending on my classroom needs I would use either printable or digital morning work activities.

Use sweet February themed morning work like this for valuable review and practice in both math and ELA.

In February, my morning work pages feature fun Valentine’s Day-themed clipart to add some seasonal flair. The daily pages use a simple, predictable pattern to help students become independent. The activities spiral through skills like fact families, true/false equations, data and tally tables, comma usage, ABC order, as well as correct verb tense usage. This variety of both math and ELA concepts makes for a great way to start the day.

These morning work pages are available in both printable and digital options. Even if I used the printable pages with my students I loved having the digital version too. The digital version is so easy to project and review together. I have also used it for technology centers and whole group review.

2. February No Prep Pages

Do you ever find yourself needing a few activities to fill the gaps in your lesson plan?

A pack of no prep printables is a great time saving resource for February!

I remember that feeling well. My struggle was to find low-prep activities that weren’t just “fluff” and actually helped my students practice the things we were working on in the classroom.

That’s how my No-Prep Monthly Printables came to be! Each pack is filled with a variety of skills-based practice that reinforces the skills we have been learning. Sometimes students just need some extra practice. These No Prep Pages are perfect for reviewing those important skills in a fun way!

These fun printables have a Valentine’s Day theme to them that students love. They’re perfect for centers, morning work, transitional work (right after recess or lunch), or anytime you need a quick and meaningful review activity!

3. Valentine’s Day Centers

I love celebrating holidays in the classroom, and Valentine’s Day is one of my favorites! We use Valentine’s Day-themed activities throughout the month of February during center time. The Valentine’s Day Math and Literacy Centers cover a variety of important topics with fun activities like:

  • Poetry Flip Book
  • Synonyms Literacy Center
  • Valentine’s Day Color By Code
  • Valentine’s Day Data (Spin, Tally, Graph, and Interpret)
  • Valentine’s Day Sentence Corrections Literacy Center Activity
  • Opinion Writing Friendly Letter
  • Valentine’s Day Word Searches
  • Cute Crown Valentine’s Craft (perfect activity for your Valentine’s Day party!)

Students tend to think any activities with a holiday theme are more fun, so I definitely used that to my advantage through the years. I loved that students were able to work on important concepts in a way that was appealing and different from the norm.

Another great thing about these Valentine’s Day centers is that they come in both printable and digital options. I love that we can use the printable activities during centers and small groups and then revisit the activities later during technology centers.

4. Color By Code Activities

Color by code pages are always a hit in the classroom, but when you can pair them with fun February themes your students will love using them even more!

6. Valentine’s Day BINGO

Do you have a class Valentine’s Day party? Valentine’s Day BINGO is the BEST party game! Classroom parties in the primary grades can get a little hectic, so I always tried to make sure we had a few fun games planned to keep the kiddos focused on an activity. BINGO games are always my favorite because they are simple to prep and easy for first-graders to play.

Bingo is the perfect time saving resource for February!

The Valentine’s Day BINGO set we use focuses on vocabulary words that are perfect for the month of February.

The game uses fun, seasonal words like rainbow, candy, heart, and cupcake.

The students love BINGO and it makes for a fun way to practice word recognition and expand vocabulary.

There’s also an option for both color and black and white cards. Use the black and white version with BINGO daubers or the color version with BINGO markers to best suit your class.

7. Presidents’ Day Centers for February

It’s a fun shift from the usual lessons and with Print and Digital Presidents’ Day Centers, it’s easy to incorporate into the daily routine. Since these activities come in both digital and printable options, they can easily be used for whole-group teaching or center time. Some of the fun things covered in this resource include:
